I talk a lot about an animal’s agency on this podcast and how honoring that is a part of true kinship with animals. When I speak of striving towards it, it may sound as if it might be something to attain in the long distant future.

Yet we are often honoring their agency without being aware of it!

For instance, one way to honor an animals agency is to see how they use it in your home.

Over the years with my animal family, different animals have claimed and taken on different roles as their own.

Dog Teddy was in charge of hospitality. He would greet everyone who came to the door as if they were long lost friends, welcoming them with his smile and cheery nature. Dog Emmie was the nurturer, holding the family peace or being with us when one needed comfort. Dog Max was the joker, always entertaining us.

And then there were the cats. Scheisters was the general manager, making sure everything was in order and everyone was doing what they were supposed to be doing when they were supposed to be doing it. Little 6 pound Mitzie was the queen bee of the household, demanding and arguing with others to get her way all the time. Raven is my current watchguard, watching when I leave and making sure I am home safely and on time.

Angel horse Shiloh is still my partner in the intuitive work I do, an active guide for me and the animals and people I work with.

Their roles are not just the makings of cute stories, but how they chose to actively contribute to the family and the running of their household.

What about your animal family? How does their agency show up in your home?

Here’s an invitation for you to join me on this path. My work is devoted to helping you show up in the world for animals from the fullness of your authentic self. I hope this encourages you to look at your relationship with animals differently so that a new place of understanding begins to open for you.

My online work is given readily and is free to consume. AND time and labor are involved. Your financial support makes my work sustainable and allows me to continue providing you with the pro bono resources I offer, such as this podcast.
