Acknowledgement

I acknowledge that what I call true kinship with animals is based on the animal-human connection known to Indigenous Peoples before they were subjugated and repressed by colonizers. True kinship with animals is my attempt to express my colonized understanding of that indigenous connection using a colonized voice. It is meant to be in appreciation of and not an appropriation of Native values. I acknowledge that as a white woman from colonized lineage I will neither understand, experience nor be able to articulate the Indigenous Peoples experience
