Animal Safety Over the 4th of July

Not even 10:30 AM and there goes another firecracker! 🧨🧨🧨 That’ll wake me up.

My neighborhood is filled with the unpredictable sounds and lights of the sparklers and fireworks. Bird song is conspicuously absent, I don’t blame the birds for leaving. As a matter of fact, I’m not seeing any wildlife as I look out the windows.

What's been happening in your neighborhood? How have the animals been reacting to them?

Emmie, the grand lady terrified of fireworks

Emmie, an elderly, gentle and sweet dog, was petrified of the fireworks. All she could do was sit on top of me, petrified. She would quiver in horror - and that increased as she aged. Yearly, starting in mid-late June, the traditions of pulling out the thundershirt, closing the doors and windows and playing loud music began. All of this to help calm her down.

It’s not too late to prepare your animal family for The Big Day. And I have some tips and ideas to help you do that.

I have collated stories I’ve heard from the animals themselves, tips on helping animals feel safe - including farm animals and animals in the wild, statistics for animals lost over the 4th and more into a workshop I presented in the past. Links are outdated, stats are not current, and the info itself is solid.

Until July 5, the full PDF is available for free here on Patreon. Check it out, there’s some info I bet

you will find helpful for your animal family! (download link towards the bottom of the page)

If you have the time while on my Patreon page, why not take the time to check it out? It’s currently in the midst of a soft opening, with the grand opening on July 5. A good starting place is Collections, where you can pick and choose posts that call out to you.

Here’s to a safe and relaxed 4th to you and the animals!
